Dr. Floyd Taub Joins Zetiq Scientific Advisory Board
Zetiq, a subsidiary of Bio-Light Ltd. (TASE: BOLT), is pleased to announce that Floyd Taub has joined its Scientific Advisory Board.
Dr. Taub pioneered the use of nucleic acid techniques to diagnose cancer and is responsible for what is currently the most used nucleic acid screening technique and the "Gold Standard" molecular method for cervical cancer screening. While at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., Dr. Taub invented and implemented the first Computerized Image Processing Techniques to measure Gene Expression Levels (Genomics) via Arrays. In 1984 he founded, and for eight years led DIGENE, the company that until 2008 had the only FDA-approved test to determine if a woman has one of the viruses that cause cervical cancer.
Dr. Taub has founded and has served as CEO at a number of public and private companies in diagnostics and therapeutics.
These companies include CytoCore, Inc. (CYCR), Digene, Inc, LifeTime Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and FindCure.Org, Inc.
Prior to his work in industry he was Head of a Pathology Unit in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) which focused on immunopathology. While in the Laboratory of Biochemistry of the National Cancer Institute, he devised and implemented genomics before the term existed. He designed and used the first computerized image processing analysis of array hybridizations. His first project was on erythropoietin (EPO). EPO is now the basis of several drugs that lead biotechnology drug sales (over $10B).
Dr. Taub received his M.D. from the Northwestern University; trained in pathology at the University of Colorado and was the first Surgical Pathology Fellowship at George Washington University.
