Bio-Light: Allergica Receives Patent To Protect Drug Against Imitators

Allergica, a member of the Bio-Light Group, reported today that the U.S. Patent Office has approved one of its patent requests. The patent will protect it from similar drugs being developed which incorporate the underlying principles of the pharmaceutical that Allergica is working to create.

The patent relates to the unique molecular structure that allows the prevention of secretion of allergic and inflammatory mediators from mast cells, the key players in allergic responses.

The wide-ranging patent expands the protected area of research for the company and significantly reduces the chances of future competition for the company’s technology.

Allergica also announced that Prof. Yossi Makory has been appointed as a member of Allergica’s Scientific Advisory Board. Makory heads the department and laboratories for allergies and clinical immunology at Meir Hospital in Cfar Saba, and was recently appointed the Dean of the Tel Aviv University Medical School.
